All MINE….

Every once in awhile you need to do something for yourself.  As for me…the usual coveted cocktail, late night pan of chocolate brownies, or hot new pair of shoes weren’t going to cut it this time.  You see…this Christmas has been a hard one for us.  We had been quietly but joyfully expecting a precious new baby, but our joy was all too swiftly turned to sorrow as we had a miscarriage just before Christmas.  We have been surrounded in the amazing support of our family and friends, but as the weeks passed and the post-baby blues came and went, I just knew I needed an extra pick me up.  ….And then it occured to me….what is soft and sweet and needy and perfect in every way….if not a baby, then of course, a PUPPY.  

 So with the barely audible “I guess so” from my husband, I set out to find the perfect one.  And I did….

And of course she is sweet and soft and needy and perfect.  The name took a few hours to come up with….my husband was trying his best to get me to call her “Squishta”….since he almost squished her on the couch and to him that was the perfect thing to call her.  But noooo…..that was just not sitting right with me:)But this tiny 9wk Chihuahua reminded me so much of this children’s book- Stellaluna, that I gave her the name.  So we call her Stella for short.

So thats my story….a little New Year’s resolution to give myself a little gift that keeps on giving:)  Sometimes when you survive a difficult period in your life you just need to treat yourself….and Stella, I joke,  is the perfect little anti-depressant:)

We are going to keep trying for a new baby soon….but God is in charge of that!!
